Enhancing 5G Network Support for a US Tier One Company
TECHNOLOGIES USED
The project involved supporting a 5G network with services based on 3GPP standards. Technologies and components integral to the project included 5GC and LTE nodes (PCRF, S-GW), Affirmed Unity Cloud components (AMF, SMF, UPF, NRF, NSSF), Openet PCF, ENEA PCF, HPE SDM (AUSF, UDM, UDR), Cisco PCRF, and tools such as Landslide, Load Core, dstest. Hybrid cloud integration for the Mobile World Conference 2023 Showcase was also part of the project.
GOALS
The primary goal of the project was to provide robust support for a US Tier One company’s 5G network, adhering to 3GPP standards. Specific goals included real-time testing, efficient customer service delivery, and overcoming challenges related to workload fluctuations and offshore-onsite collaboration.
CHALLENGE
The project faced challenges revolving around real-time testing and customer services to support a US Tier One company’s 5G network. Managing sudden workload overloads, addressing offshore support and onsite coordination issues, and the need for proper guidance from management in the project’s initial stages were significant challenges.
SOLUTION
To address the challenges and achieve project goals, the team implemented a range of solutions. This included thorough test design encompassing functional and non-functional testing, performance testing of 5GC and LTE nodes, defect identification and tracking during testing, and validation of mobility call flow scenarios. Deployment, configuration, and integration of various components from Affirmed UnityCloud, Openet, ENEA, and HPE SDM were conducted. Tools like Landslide, LoadCore, and dstest were utilized for testing, and hybrid cloud integration for the Mobile World Conference 2023 Showcase was successfully accomplished.
RESULT
The implemented solutions led to positive outcomes. The project successfully supported the 5G network of the US Tier One company, meeting 3GPP standards. Real-time testing and customer service delivery were optimized, and challenges related to workload fluctuations and offshore-onsite collaboration were effectively addressed. The successful integration of various components and tools contributed to a robust and efficient 5G network. The recognition through the Kudos Award and Appreciation for the Mobile World Conference 2023 Showcase highlighted the project’s success. This case study illustrates how strategic planning, comprehensive solutions, and adept technology management successfully addressed challenges, leading to optimized 5G network support and recognition for outstanding contributions.
