GOALS

Implement VMware Velo SD-WAN across 40 sites with a focus on Circuit T&T and SD-WAN implementation.

Ensure a swift and fixed-duration deployment, targeting a rate of 3-4 sites per week.

Migrate from the existing vEdge platform to the cEdge platform.

Conduct pre-migration activities, including circuit test and turn-up, device onboarding, software version upgrades, and SD-WAN profile configurations.

Provide hypercare support post-WAN migration and handover comprehensive documentation to the client’s NOC.

CHALLENGE

The client, who is a global leader in digital transformation, undertook the task of transforming a customer’s legacy network to VMware Velo SD-WAN technology. The challenge was to seamlessly implement the SD-WAN solution across 40 sites within a fixed duration of three months.

SOLUTION

We collaborated with the client to achieve the project goals. The approach involved meticulous planning and execution in line with the project’s milestones. Key steps included

Design Phase

Creation of site design and configuration packs based on golden templates.

Pre-migration Activities

Circuit test and turn-up, device onboarding, software upgrades, and SD-WAN profile configurations.

Migration Activities

Support for WAN changes on site migration/cutover days, troubleshooting WAN issues.

UAT and Troubleshooting

Conducting UAT testing during failover scenarios, hypercare support for WAN services.

Handover

Comprehensive documentation and services handover to the client’s NOC.

RESULT

The collaboration between the client and us resulted in the successful transformation of the customer’s network to VMware Velo SD-WAN across 40 sites. The project was completed within the stipulated three-month timeframe, meeting the deployment velocity of 3-4 sites per week. The migration from the vEdge platform to the cEdge platform was seamlessly executed, ensuring minimal disruption. The handover to Tech Mahindra’s NOC included all necessary documentation, enabling efficient post-migration support and management. The case study showcases a milestone-based model that, despite any project delays, did not result in additional pricing or billing. The success of the project underscored the effectiveness of the collaboration and adherence to the defined timelines.
